Received his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Costa Rica in 2002, with specialization in Printmaking.
Mello’s work, which combines serigraph and digital photography, is intimate and voiceless. In silkscreen printing, he has for some time now been producing reflections on anonymity. In his interpretations of natural landscapes, he uses photomontage to shape some forms of movement and show different ways of approaching what is observed.
In 2001, Mello was awarded Honorable Mention at the First Digital Photography Contest organized by the Costa Rica National Gallery, and Third Place at the Painting Salon of the University of Costa Rica. In 2008, he was awarded Honorable Mention in the 50th anniversary memorial competition between the University of Costa Rica and the University of Kansas.
His works have been exhibited in several government institutions, cultural centres, museums and private galleries in Costa Rica, Cuba and the United States.
